Abstract
Hypertension that still be the public health problem that increasing mortality and morbidity. One of the factors that influence hypertension is lifestyle. Lifestyle will lead to various diseases, one example hypertension. The objective of this study was to know the correlation between lifestyle that consist of (physical activity, stres, smoking, caffeine consumption, and salt consumption) with hypertension that occur in the working area of payakabung health center of ogan Ilir Regency. The type of this research was analytic study using cross sectional design. The population in this study was Middle age in the working area of Purnajaya village Ogan Ilir regency. The sample was 70 Middle Age 45 to 59 years. The sampling technique of analysis the data used was univariate analysis and bivariate analysis. Hypothesis test was done by Chi Square statiscal test. The results of the study found there was correlation between salt consumption with incidence of hypertention in Midlle age at Purnajaya village in Ogan Ilir (p value= 0,0001; PR=3,039,CI=1,589-5812). Unrelated variable are physical activity variable, stress, smoking and caffeine consumption. The suggestion from this research is expected for the public to reduce the consumption of salty food and increasing the motivation to do investigation as early as possible and often doing the treatment for sufferer of hypertention, that are food that have salt and high in sodium.
