Abstract

This research is entitled "The Relationship between Social and Economic Status of Families with Stunting Incidents in Ilir Barat I District, Palembang City". This study aims to understand the social and economic conditions of the family with the incidence of stunting and to determine the relationship between the social and economic status of the family and the incidence of stunting. This type of research is mixed methods(Mix Method) between descriptive qualitative and correlational quantitative. Determination of respondents in this study, namely from the total population obtained, namely 44 respondents and for the main informants it was taken using a random sampling technique. Data collection is done by observing, questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The results of this study are social conditions such as parental education, one of which is the mother (pvalue=0.018), mother's knowledge (pvalue=0.047), mother's upbringing (pvalue=0.042) and cultural factors (pvalue=1.000). Of the four social conditions, it can be concluded that there are social conditions that are closely related to the incidence of stunting in Ilir Barat I District, Palembang City. As for the economic conditions of parents' work, namely father (pvalue = 0.592) mother (pvalue = 0.344) it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship. For parents' income, especially fathers, there is a significant relationship (pvalue=0.019) and family dependents (pvalue=0.029). Thus the social and economic status of the family with the incidence of stunting dominates, there is a significant relationship. Keywords: Social and economic status, family, stunting
