Abstract

As a country that is often affected by the earthquake, the buildings planned should attention to the level of risk that an earthquake will occur vvhen the buildings will be founded in areas prone to earthquakes. Therefore, the necessary calculation and fast yet precise. Along with the development of Computer technology, it is certain we can quickly and accurately predict, the earthquake force that will work when the quake occurred. With the purpose of using Computer technology today, we used Matlab programming language and SAP 2000. The purpose of using both programs in order to know the level of difference in the result obtained between the two types of this new program. Matlab programming language and professional SAP 2000 program can be used to calculate the dynamic earthquake load by response spectrum method. This method is very suitable for the conditions in Indonesia, because the earthquake regulations SNI-03-1726-2002 has yielded the response spectrum of a perfect graph. This assignment that must be done to get the final result, namely lateral force that works every floor. First calculation is done by Matlab to input formulas, and then calculation with SAP 2000. While the result obtained from these two programs, both Period(7), Cyclical Frequency (/), Frequency (&), and Eigen (Q), have the same value. Only minor differences due to rounding digits behind. As for the value of modeshapes (<p) has exactly the same result. Differences occur only on the plus sign minus. For example in the mode - 2, marks all the mode element opposing each other. This is due to the earthquake that is dynamic and forth.
