Abstract

PT Gorby Putra Utama is a coal mining company in North Musi Rawas District, South Sumatera. The coal mining of PT Gorby Putra Utama is carried out using the open pit mining method. This study aims to determine the flow of water entering the mine so that the ideal sump volume will be known to accommodate the water discharge, the pump capacity capable of removing water from the sump and the volume of the sludge settling pond to precipitate the solid particles carried by the water from the sump. This research was conducted using a quantitative descriptive method. Based on the analysis that has been done, the area of the rain catchment area at Mitra Pit is 0.35 km2 with a planned rainfall of 24.65 m3/day, rainy hours of 4.20 hours/day and rainfall intensity of 3.28 mm/hour. The total discharge of water entering the pit amounted to 5949.20 m2 per day derived flom the discharge of runoff water, groundwater and seepage water. With the discharge, then planned sump with length of 80 m, width of 53 m, depth of 6 m and slope of 45˚. So that the planned sump volume can accommodate water with a volume of 21821.73 m3. The pump used to remove water from the sump is a DnD 150 4H pump as much as 1 unit with HDPE ((High Density Polyethylene) pipe. The pump can release water as mach as 278.83 m3 per hour with total head of 24.59 m.
