Abstract

Rice is a food commodity that is the staple food of most Indonesian people. The demand for rice continues to increase, while the availability of rice is limited so that it will affect the price of rice. Therefore, this research aims to determine the effect of rice demand and supply on rice prices in Indonesia. This research uses secondary data in the form of time series data from 1992 to 2016. The independent variable in this research is demand and supply of rice, while the dependent variable is the price of rice. This research used multiple regression analysis with Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method. Rice demand and rice supply simultaneously affect rice prices at 5% confidence level. While each independent variable significantly influence the independent variable at 10% confidence level.
