Abstract

Peat soil is not a good soil because belonged to soft ground group which has major problems, namely low ground bearing capacity. Phase improvements soil which were done physically serves to increase the bearing capacity on peat soil by adding reinforcement material. Bamboo material used as rcinforcement in this study that aims to identify the measure of bearing capacity and a decrease in shallow foundation over peat soil before and after the reinforcement given by retrofitting of woven bamboo and bamboo grid pattemed rectangles. The research methodology used is testing with a laboratory scale. Peat soil sampling sites from areas Dusun III Banyu Urip Banyuasin regency of South Sumatra. Bamboo material obtained from the Seberang Ulu, Palembang and sand obtained from depot sands at the Musi II, Palembang. Based on model study in laboratory, we obtain the result which show the addition of the number of layers of reinforcement and spacing depth of layers that will effectively give BCR greater value. After testing the variation of the depth of the layer d = 0B; d = 0,25B; and d = 0,5B with the number of layers 1 layer, layer 2 and layer 3 we obtained the combination that gives the highest value of bearing capacity is the use of layered depth variation d = 0,25B with the number of layers of 3 layers. The value of bearing capacity is 30.67 kPa with BCR value of 2.034 or percent increase is 103.4%.
