Abstract

The cause of the issue of global warming is the increasing content of carbon dioxide (CO2). The way to minimize the impact of global warming is to conserve energy in all sectors, including the building sector. Green building is a concept in the building industry that supports low carbon development. In Indonesia, green building has not been widely implemented. In this case, it is important to ensure that the contractor, as the main actor who is directly involved in the construction of a building, has sufficient knowledge, skills and readiness to adopt the green building concept. Conducted research to analyze the readiness of contractors in facing the implementation of green building in Palembang City, it is hoped that contractors in Palembang City can contribute to reducing the greenhouse gas effect and be able to take part in implementing the green building concept. This research was conducted using a quantitative method, by collecting data by distributing questionnaires to contractors in the city of Palembang. Data analysis and processing were performed using Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS 25 applications. The results showed that the average ratio of contractors who understood the benefits, criteria, and had a relatively low assessment of the constraints of implementing green building with those who did not agree was 62%: 30%.
