Abstract

The purposes of this research are (1) Identifying socio-economic characteristics of rice farmers in Rantau Kasai Village, Lintang Kanan District, Empat Lawang Regency. (2) Counting earned income level of rice farmers in Rantau Kasai Village, Lintang Kanan District, Empat Lawang Regency. (3) Knowing income level of rice farmers compared to the standard of decent living needs (KHL) in Rantau Kasai Village, Lintang Kanan District, Empat Lawang Regency. This research was taken place in rice farmers in Rantau Kasai Village, Lintang Kanan District, Empat Lawang Regency on March, 2018. The sampling method used in this research is a simple random sample. The data used in the form were primary and secondary data. The results indicated that Socio-economic characteristics seen from education, position in society, wealth, and income of rice farmers with medium criterion which have average score equal to 34,80. The total income of rice farmer’s families in Rantau Kasai Village Rp 32.372.830,83 per year. The incomes of rice farmer’s families in Rantau Kasai Village had not fulfilled the decent living needs (KHL) so it had not been prosperous yet. This was because the family’s standard of profer life needs Rp 3.909.035,61 per head of household per month, while the income of rice farmer’s family in Rantau Kasai Village Rp 2.697.735,90 per head of household per month. By this reasearch, gotten the differences between earnings of household of rice farmers with standard requirement of decent of profer life need Rp 1.211.299,71.
