Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to calculated how much the contribution of galangal farming income to the total income of households both farmers who are members of farmer groups and non-farmer groups, 2) to analized the income of galangal farming to farmers who are members of farmer groups and non-farmer groups, and 3) to analized the strategies to be undertaken to develop and maintain the continuation of galangal farming in Sukamulya subdistrict, Sematang Borang district Palembang city. The contribution of galangal farming income to farmers who joined into the farmer group was 56,07% and for the contribution of galangal farming income to farmers who are not incorporated into the farmer group was 51,40% , which means that the income of galangal farming was on a high scale to the total income of households of both farmers and third layer. The result of this research were based on independent test samples t test (Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.867 bigger than the 0.05 significance level, which means there is no difference of income from both layers farmers both joined into farmer groups, as well as nonfarmer groups. From the SWOT analysis, farmers position was in the location of the 2nd quadrant, which means the farmer has the power to overcome the threats encountered through internal strengt.
