Abstract
This research aims to determine the effect of variation of cross-sectional and the best planting pattern on pakcoy production in the NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) hydroponic system. This research was carried out from January 2023 to February 2023 at the Agricultural Engineering Study Program Plant House, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, South Sumatra. The research method used was a randomized factorial block design (RAKF) with two treatment factors, namely planting pattern (A) and cross-sectional (B) with each level of treatment combination being repeated three times. The parameters of this study consisted of environmental conditions, water flow thickness, water flow velocity, flow discharge, water use efficiency, plant water requirements, crop production (plant height, number of leaves, plant fresh weight, and plant productivity). The result showed that treatment of crosssectional and planting pattern had a significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, and fresh weight of pakcoy plants. The thickness of water flow in the crosssectional of the trapezoidal channel with a planting pattern of 25 cm is the best thickness of water flow for pakcoy plant growth of 0.002 m. The greatest of water use was at a planting pattern of 25 cm with a value of 20.64 kg/m3 and the smallest at a 20 cm planting patter with a value of 19.18 kg/m3.
