Abstract

Toddler health is a concern of the government in various developing countries.Toddlers tend to need health services more because toddlers are more vulnerable to acute illness. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the utilization of health services in infants with acute illness This study used a cross sectional study design with a quantitative approach rom data from the Indonesian Family Life Survey 2014 which represents 83% of the population in Indonesia. The number of samples is 1624 toddlers aged <5 years who have experienced acute illness. The method of analysis of this study using univariate, bivariate analysis with chi-square test and multivariate using multiple logistic regression models prediction. Toddlers who use health services are 342 (25.1%). Related variables are insurance ownership, individual health assessment and parent’s occupation. The most dominant variable for the utilization of health services is the work of parents obtained by the PR value 3,444 (95% CI: 2,096-5,659) after being controlled by other variables. Parents' work greatly affects toddlers in utilizing health services. To improve this the government is expected to provide employment and training, especially for toddlers' parents.
