Abstract

Delayed ovulation is an event of reproductive disorders of livestock that causes the estrus period is not in accordance with the time so that cattle experience long estrus of more than 36 hours to 48 hours and ovulation occurs, have a normal estrus cycle, and have no abnormalities in the estrus mucus and reproductive tract. This study aims to see the picture of ovarian follicular dynamics in crossbreed cows diagnosed with delayed ovulation. The cows used were 2 crossbreed cows, namely 1 head diagnosed with delayed ovulation simmental and 1 normal cow of the ongole breed. Observation of the follicular dynamics of the ovary is carried out according to the Fricke method with repeated scanning of the surface of the ovary to obtain a picture of the follicle. The parameters observed are the number, and diameter of follicles. The results of cow ovaries measured using internal clipper ultrasound are the distance between the two axis points based on the longest axis in cm, to determine the development during one estrous cycle. The results showed that simmental crossbreed cows that experienced delayed ovulation on the table had a de graaf follicle size of 1.5, a smaller size compared to ongole breed cattle with a size of 2 cm. Based on the results of the study, visual observations and ultrasound have been carried out, so it can be concluded that cows that experience delayed ovulation have smaller follicle sizes compared to normal cows, de Graaf cow follicle size delayed ovulation 1.5 cm while in normal cows have a size of 2 cm, cows delayed ovulation experience prolonged estrus for up to 3 days and ultrasound results are obtained that ovulation in cows delayed ovulation occurs on the 3rd day of estrus precisely when the cow is at the end of estrus.
