Abstract

Coronary heart disease is a non-communicable disease that causes the highest death in all ages after a stroke, which is 12.9% based on the Ministry of Health in 2014. Coronary heart disease occurs because of the inability of individuals to avoid or not control risk factors. This study used the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) data in 2007 and 2014 to determine the association of total kolesetrol with coronary heart disease and the association of age, sex, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity, physical activity, smoking status, and psychological conditions with coronary heart disease in Indonesia. This research is a quantitative study using a retrospective cohort study design with sampling using multistage random sampling so that a sample of 1822 respondents were found to be in accordance with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Analysis of research data using complex samples analysis consisting of three stages, namely univariate, bivariate with chi-square test and multivariate using multiple logistic regression risk factor models. The results showed that coronary heart disease was found in 36 respondents (2.0%). Variable total cholesterol associated with coronary heart disease after being controlled by diabetes mellitus and obesity variables (RR =1,565 : 95% CI=1,177-2,080). Suggestions researchers so that people adopt healthy lifestyles such as controlling cholesterol levels, by reducing consumption of foods containing high fat, reducing consumption of alcohol and coffee, increase consumption of vegetables and fruits, adequate physical activity, avoid smoking and stress, not only in individuals with age groups who are at risk of coronary heart disease, but also before reaching 40 years as a preventive measure.
