Abstract

Purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L) is an annual crop that has the highest anthocyanin content when compared to other sweet potatoes. Purple sweet potato is a potential food crop that can be used as an alternative to staple foods such as rice. This study aims to determine the effect of applying manure and liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) from banana peel waste on the growth of purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L) from tuber cuttings. The research began from January to April 2023, located at the shadow house of the Department of Agricultural Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. In this study, the method used was Randomized Block Design with 3 groups and each group consisted of 3 replicates. The treatments ratio consisted of soil and manure with a ratio of 3: 2 in the P1-P4 treatment, and with a ratio of 4: 1 in the P5-P8 treatment.The treatment consisted of 8 combinations of manure and liquid organic fertilizer, including: P1 and P5 = 2.5% LOF concentration equivalent to 12.5 ml /polybag, P2 and P6 = 5% LOF concentration equivalent to 25 ml/ polybag. P3 and P7 = 7.5% LOF concentration equivalent to 37.5 ml/ polybag. P4 and P8 = 10% LOF concentration equivalent to 50 ml/ polybag. The observed parameters in study included the number of buds, number of branches, number of leaves, stem length, stem diameter, leaf greenness, shoot fresh weight, and dry weight root, fresh weight and dry weight. Based on the results of the study, it showed that the application of cow manure at dose of 2.5% per polybag in the P1treatment gave significant effect on the parameters of the number of leaves, shoot fresh weight and dry weight, but had no significant on other parameters.
