Abstract
The use of fingerprints for building security systems, bank accounts, or cell phone security affects the development of research in the field of fingerprint pattern classification. The general fingerprint pattern classification processes are data acquisition, feature extraction, training and fingerprint pattern classification. The Zernike Moment Invariant (ZMI) and Self Organizing Maps (SOM) methods are two methods that are often used in pairs to classify patterns. SOM has limitations in the process of distributing maps because it is static so that the SOM derivative method is made, namely Growing Self Organizing Maps (GSOM). GSOM is dynamic, making the map distribution process easier and faster than the SOM method, especially when faced with large amounts of data. This study uses the ZMI method in the extraction feature of the fingerprint pattern and the GSOM method in the training process and classification of fingerprint patterns. This study examines 4 values of the Spread Factor (SF) parameters, which are 0.1, 0.4, 0.7, and 0.9. The SF value 0.9 has the highest accuracy of 98.6% with a total of 75 training data and 75 testing data
