Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the status of water quality of the Musi River estuary seen from the value of heavy metals in accordance with PPRI No. 22 of 2021. This research was conducted in December 2022, water and sediment samples were carried out at five station points. Heavy metal concentrations were analyzed using SSA. The content of Ni in water range from 0.018 – 0.053 mg/L, Pb in water ranges from 0.026 – 0.089 mg/L. Ni in sediment ranged from 7.636 – 19.988 mg/kg and Pb in sediment ranged from 49.284 – 17.273 mg/kg. Based on the PP RI quality standard No. 22 of 2021 the content of heavy metal Ni in water is still below the quality standard, while the content of heavy metal Pb in water has passed the quality standard. Contamination levels of heavy metals Ni and Pb in sediments are still in low and moderate contamination (CF<1 and 1<CF<3) and the level of pollution is not polluted (PLI<1). Based on quality standards Guidelines for the Protection and Management of Aquatic Sediment Quality and ANZECC, (2013) the values of heavy metals Ni and Pb in sediments at each station are still below the quality standard.
