Abstract

This study aims to determine the appropriate herbicide dosage and spray volume in controlling weeds on oil palm plantations (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). This research was conducted at PT Intimegah Bestari Pertiwi Sungai Ampalau Estate, South Sumatra, from October 2022 to February 2023. This research was compiled using the Randomized Factorial Group Design method consisting of 2 factors. The first factor was the herbicide dosage with 3 treatment levels, namely: D0 = 0 l ha-1, D1 = 1 l ha-1, D2 = 2 l ha-1, and D3 = 3 l ha-1. The second factor was the herbicide spray volume with 3 treatment levels, namely: V1 = 300 l ha-1, V2 = 450 l ha-1, and V3 = 600 l ha-1. Each treatment was repeated 3 times, so that the number of experimental units was 36 plots. Based on the results of the study, it was shown that the 3 l ha-1 triclopyr herbicide dosage factor had a significant effect on total weeds at 12 weeks after aplication and broad leaf weeds at 4 and 12 weeks after aplication. This indicates that 3 l ha-1 triclopyr herbicide treatment was able to suppress weed growth in mature oil palm plantations. However, the spray volume treatment showed no significant effect on total weed growth. In conclusion, the best treatment in this study was the D3 treatment with a dosage of 3 l ha-1 based on the lowest weed dry weight variable of the other treatments.
