Abstract

The selection of herbicides and the use of the right dose is one of the factors that determine the success of weed control. The goal of this study was to identify the best herbicide for use in oil palm farms. From November 2022 to February 2023, researchers from PT Intimegah Bestari Pertiwi in Kemang, Sanga Desa District, Musi Banyuasin Regency, Indonesia, gathered data. A total of 10 different treatments were employed across 3 separate replications in this randomized block design (RBD) research. The treatments ranged from no herbicide (P1) to 3 liters per hectare (P2) to 5 liters per hectare (P3) to 1.5 liters per hectare (P4) to 2 liters per hectare (P5) to 1 liter per hectare (P6) to 2 liters per hectare (P7) to 75 grams per hectare (P8) to 100 grams per hectare (P9). Herbicide treatment significantly affected weed dry weight at 4 MSA, but not at 8 MSA or 12 MSA, according to cidyl analysis of variance data. Before application, the weed vegetation was analyzed, and the findings showed that there were 4 grassy weed species, 7 broadleaf weed species, and 1 puzzle weed species. The Sum Dominance Ranking (SDR) Value of weeds varies. Weeds with an SDR greater than 5% are revealed by the study namely in the grass leaf weed group there was 1 species, namely Ottochloa nodosa 38.4%, broad leaves there were 3 types of weeds namely Clidemia hirta 12.3%, Legazpia polygonoides Beth 10.6% , Borreria alata 6.41%, Melastoma candidum L. 6.14%. There is 1 species of weeds in the puzzle type, namely Scleria sumatrensis 9.59%. and based on direct visual observations in the field, the use of herbicides in each treatment showed 0 or no symptoms of poisoning (toxic) to oil palm plants.
