Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing children's decision to work in Palembang City, with a focus on the age range of 10-19 years. The data analysis method used is Binary Logistic Regression to estimate the determinants of child labor. This research employs a qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis approach. The research sample consists of 100 respondents. The results indicate that several variables have a significant influence on children's decision to work, namely gender, parental income, family size, parental education, nature of parental occupation, parental employment status, and parental occupation type. The age variable does not have a significant effect on children's decision to work. The findings suggest that age is not a significant determinant in influencing children's decision to work. These results have important implications for understanding the factors influencing children's labor participation. Variables such as gender, parental education, nature of occupation, employment status, occupation type, child worker's income, and family size need to be considered in designing policies and programs aimed at protecting children's rights and improving their well-being. The results of the binary logistic regression analysis reveal that the Nagelkerker R Square indicates that the variation in the independent variables of gender, age, parental income, insurance coverage, parental education, nature of parental occupation, parental employment status, and parental occupation type is able to explain the dependent variable of children's decision to work.
