Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of the existence of floating net cages in Lake Toba, Simanindo District, Samosir Regency, North Sumatra by using the concept of social change from Piotr Sztompka. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research method. Data collection techniques in this study are observation, interviews, literature and documentation. The results of this study show that floating net cages in Lake Toba, Simanindo district, have social, economic and environmental impacts. The existence of this KJA has undergone several phases of social change in social, economic and environmental conditions by adjusting the rules that apply in the management of this KJA. Since the existence of floating net cages, the income of the Simanindo community has improved and has provided welfare to the community. However, towards environmental conditions, the changes that have occurred in the community after the existence of floating net cages (KJA) have resulted in increasingly alarming environmental conditions due to the community's ignorance of environmental changes.
