Abstract
The research is a qualitative descriptive study that aims to analyze or examine the mathematical thinking type of reasoning of junior high school students in solve problem-solving questions. Subject in this study were 29 students of Junior high school number 9 Palembang, with totaling 29 students will be taken 9 students after the test . The instrument used in this study is 3 items of problem-solving question. In this research the mathematical thingking is more focused on the ability of reasoning which is divided into 3 types namely deductive, inductive and logical reasoning . The results of the analysis of mathematical thinking type reasoning show that when working on test questions in the form of problem-solving questions students use the three reasoning, namely deductive, inductive, and logical reasoning. Students are more dominant using deductive reasoning if the problem is easy to understand. Students often use inductive reasoning if the problem is in the form of a pattern and if the problem is difficult to understand so students begin to solve questions with special things. For logical reasoning it depends on the problem at hand
