Abstract

The purpose of this study was to educate the elderly regarding healthy lifestyles using video media at the UPTD Harapan Kita Social Institution for the Elderly, South Sumatra Province. This study used an experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest pre-experimental research design. The subjects in this study were 31 elderly people, the data source was used by distributing questionnaires. The results of the study showed that education on healthy lifestyles for the elderly using video media in their delivery increased from 35% to 87%. This shows that indeed video media can improve learning outcomes because it involves imagination and increases learning motivation with video media, students will better understand the material conveyed by educators through learning video shows that are played. The elderly need education in an effective way in delivering it. A healthy way of life must be carried out consistently and immediately, so that a solid way of life is one's way of life to reduce disease. The implementation of educational and creative efforts aims to raise awareness and change behavior which includes aspects of knowledge, attitudes and actions so that correct changes in healthy living behavior are realized because some of the elderly are still lacking in implementing a good healthy lifestyle. To increase knowledge can be done with health education about Healthy Lifestyles. Healthy lifestyle education has an influence on knowledge and attitudes.
