Abstract

The preliminary study had been conducted on life form of the coral reef in coastal ecotourism waters of the Rubiah Island, Sabang Municipality, Nangro Aceh Darussalam Province in period of pre-tsunami 2004. The aim of the preliminary study was to collecting the initial data of the dominance life form of the coral reef. The survey to collecting data was conducted with visual census on life form of the coral reef with the method of line intercept transects. Life form of the coral reef data were analyzed with quantitative estimation of coverage percentage for each life form. Coral Massive (CM), 29.4% of the average coverage, was indicated as the dominant coverage of the coral reef
