Abstract

This paper presents a performance study of Unit 1 PLTU Banjarsari 135 MW under real operating conditions using exergy and exergoeconomic analysis methods. The main objective of this study is to determine the exergy destruction and exergy efficiency, as well as the exergy destruction costs and exergoeconomic factors of each plant component under operating conditions. Plant performance is also determined at various ambient temperatures. The results show that at an ambient temperature of 30 oC, the highest exergy destruction occurs in the boiler of 339.864 MW, followed by the intermediate pressure turbine of 9.192 MW. Furthermore, the lowest exergy destruction was found in the drain pump of 0.002 MW. The lowest exergy efficiency was found in the boiler of 32.70%, followed by the low pressure heater 7 of 40.98% and the highest in the deaerator of 97.48%. Based on exergoeconomic analysis, the highest exergy destruction cost was found in the boiler of 5987.448 USD/h, followed by the intermediate pressure turbine of 661.807 USD/h and the lowest in the condenser. The lowest exergoeconomic factor was found in the boiler of 7.77% followed by the low pressure heater 5 of 9.62%. Ambient temperature has a significant effect on plant performance where the lower the ambient temperature the better the performance
