Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of applying sugarcane cake and cow manure at different composition on the growth and yield of red chili (Capsicum annum L.) Laju F1 variety. The research was carried out at the Research Station of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra with the coordinates of the location (3°13'22.7"S 104°38'49.7"E) from October 2022 to January 2023. The research used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 3 blocks and 7 treatments, there were 4 plants in each treatment unit. The growing media treatment was soil, sugarcane cake and cow manure consisted of B0 (Control) = 2:0:0, B1 = 1:1:0 , B2 = 2:1,5:0,5 , B3 = 2:1 :1 , B4 = 2:0,5:1,5 , B5 = 1:0:1 , B6 = 1:1:1. Variables observed included plant height, number of leaves, number of branches, flowering age, fruit fresh weight, fruit dry weight, plant fresh weight, plant dry weight, fruit length, fruit diameter, and leaf greenness. The results showed that sugarcane cake and cow manure with the same composition (treatment B6) was the best treatment and it could produce chili fruit of 49.50 g/plant or equivalent of 1.38 tons/ha with planting distance 60 cm x 60 cm.
