Abstract
M ALI AKBAR. Performance of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell of Senduduk Fruit (Melastoma malabathricum) with The Addition of Xhantan and Arabic Gum in Electrolyte Solution (Supervised By TAMRIN). Organic-based solar cells often called Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) is a set of photoelectrochemical-based solar cells that can convert solar energy into electrical energy by utilizing plant-derived dyes as sensitizers. One of the factors that can affect the performance of a DSSC is the electrolyte solution. Electrolyte solution with the addition of a thickener can overcome the evaporation of the electrolyte solution. The electrolyte solution used in this study was iodine with a concentration of 0.1 N and added thickening agents, namely xhantan and arabic gum. This study aims to study and determine the Performance of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell of Senduduk Fruit (Melastoma malabathricum) with The Addition of Xhantan And Arabic Gum In Electrolyte Solution. This research was carried out from August 2022 to November 2022 at the Electrification Energy Laboratory and the Agricultural Products Chemical Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study consisted of three stages, namely preparation of the DSSC structure, preparation and assembly of the DSSC layers, and measurement of the DSSC. The TCO (Transparant Conductive Oxide) glass used has a resistance between 0.9 kΩ to 15.1 kΩ. Variations in the concentration of the thickener in the electrolyte solution were 1%, 3%, 5% and the control sample without concentration. The parameters observed in this study were the calculation of anthocyanin levels using absorbance data at 540 nm, current and voltage characteristics, power calculation, fill factor, and DSSC efficiency. The best DSSC performance using senduduk fruit dye with the addition of a thickener in xhantan gum electrolyte solution is with a thickening agent concentration of 5%. The electrical characters generated in these samples are Isc: 0.0077 mA, Voc: 0.428 mV, Imax: 0.0054 mA, Vmax: 0.346 mV, Pmax: 0.0019 mW, FF: 0.5669, and an efficiency of 0.0063%.
