Abstract
This study was aimed to determine the performance of fog irrigation systems, namely the influence of the planting media composition and misting frequency on the yield of lettuce plants. The research was conducted in November 2018 to April 2019 at the green house and the Biosystem Laboratory of the Agricultural Technology Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. This study used a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAKF) with two factors. The first factor was frequency of irrigation (A) and the second factor was the composition of the planting media (B), each repeated three times. The research parameters consisted of the efficiency of water supply, efficiency of water storage, number of leaves, height of plant canopy and weight of freshstover. The results showed that the frequency of irrigation and the composition of the planting media had significant effect on the efficiency of water storage and the yield of lettuce crops. The best treatment (A2B2) was 2 times in the irrigation frequency and the composition of the planting media with volume base of 1 ultisol soil : 0,5 husk charcoal : 0,5 sand which produced the number of leaves, plant canopy height, fresh weight, water stroge efficiency and water supply efficiency of 9 sheets, 17.75 cm, 99.03 g, 76.02% and 61.44%.
