Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of roll feeder rotation speed on the fodder chopper machine with various types of materials on the results of sharpening. This research was conducted from April 2023 to June 2023 at the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Palembang. The research method used is Factorial Randomized Group Design (RAKF) with two research factors, namely feeder roll rotation speed (A) and type of material (B) with three levels of treatment and each treatment combination is repeated three times. The parameters of this study are the effective capacity of the machine, the shredding yield, and the uniformity of the shredded results. The results showed that the highest effective capacity value was found in the treatment combination of 430 rpm feeder roll rotation speed with elephant grass material type (A1B2) which was 76.30 kg/hour. The largest shredding yield value is found in the treatment combination of 214 rpm roll feeder rotation speed with elephant grass material type (A2B2) of 92.67%. The average percentage of the treatment combination of the uniformity of the results of the shredded size of 2 cm to 5 cm which is the most is the treatment combination of 214 rpm feeder roll rotation speed with elephant grass material type (A2B2) which is 44.61%.
