Abstract
The use of motor vehicles in Indonesia will increase significantly over the years. Combining bioethanol with fossil fuels in gasoline engines can extend the life of the fuel supply, and improve combustion efficiency. Lack of alternative fuels that have not been developed perfectly can be done the addition of other materials that also come from renewable natural resources such as pure water with the constituent components of the compound are hydrogen atoms and oxygen atoms. Hydrogen alternative fuel with superior properties is high-octane and non-polluting. This test was carried out on an unmodified 125 cc Suzuki Shogun motorcycle using a prony brake test equipment to measure the load through a spring balance attached to the shaft arm. Performed with engine speed measured using a tachometer at variations of 3000 rpm, 3500 rpm, 4000 rpm, 4500 rpm and 5000 rpm for one time, each test data collection by varying the fuel Pertamax namely the addition of HHO gas and 30% ethanol which is measured in the fuel tube using a stopwatch every 5mL. This study aims to determine the effect of using HHO gas + 30% ethanol fueled with Pertamax on motorbikes. The test results showed that the fuel mixture Pertamax + E30 + HHO increased torque by 16%, power by 16%, thermal efficiency by 43% and BSFC decreased by 35% compared to pure Pertamax.
