Abstract

This study aims to obtain the effect of the addition of liquid organic fertilizer and NPK fertilizer on the growth of sorghum plants (Sorghum bicolar L.) that are polycultured in oil palm. This research was carried out at the Oil Palm Research station (-3.2227273, 104.6435292), Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya Utara District, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra from December 2022 to April 2023. The research was carried out using a Randomized Group Design (RGD) with two factors. The first factor is the addition of NPK fertilizer and the second factor is the application of liquid organic fertilizer each with 3 levels of treatment. Dose of NPK fertilizer used : Control treatment (P1), NPK 150 kg/ha equivalent to 60 g/m2 (P2), NPK 300 kg/ha equivalent to 120 g/m2 (P3). And the concentration of Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) is used: LOF 20% (K1), LOF 40% (K2), LOF 60% (K3). The observation results were analyzed using ANOVA and continued with a 5% Test Least Significant Differences. Parameters observed light intensity, humidity, temperature, height of sorghum plants, number of leaves, degree of leaf greenness, weight of panicles, weight of seeds per panicle, weight of 100 seeds, number of oil palm spear leaves, number of fresh fruit bunches, number of male flowers, number of female flowers. Based on the results of the study, the research land has an average temperature of 31.42°C and an average humidity of 74%. Ithe intensity of sunlight in open land is 49152 lux , land under shade is 29687 lux. The results of diversity analysis showed that the addition of liquid organic fertilizer and NPK fertilizer to the growth of polycultured sorghum plants (Sorghum bicolar L.) in oil palm had a real influence on the parameters of leaf greenness, panicle weight, and panicle seed weight. As well as Bhad no noticeable influence on the parameters of plant height week 10, leaf count week 10, and weight of 100 seeds. P2K2 treatment (NPK 60g/m 2 + POC 40%) gave the best results on plant height growth, number of leaves, degree of leaf greenness, panicle weight, panicle seed weight, and weight of 100 seeds. The cultivation of sorghum plants in the palm oil branch areadid not have a noticeable effect on the number of spear leaves, the number of male flowers, the number of female flowers, and the number of fresh fruit bunches.
