Abstract

The focus of this research is iron sand processing, iron sand processing activities to be processed using a jig. One of the tools commonly used to separate minerals resulting from repetitive motion is suction and thrust in vertical flow. The applied variable becomes the benchmark for concentrate recovery which is adjusted to the iron sand processing process. Increasing the grade and recovery is one of the applications to get the amount of grade and recovery in accordance with the SNI criteria in the manufacture of stainless steel using a pan American jig, a special tool used for processing iron sand. With the initial average Fe content before processing is Fe2O2 content worth 45.51% the minerals contained in the feed are ilmenite, magnetite, and limonite. Various results were obtained after processing using predetermined variables, this research resulted in the processing of levels that were inversely proportional to levels and recovery. By processing the processing time 6 minutes, 11 minutes, 16 minutes, with a bed thickness of 7 mm, 12 mm, 17 mm and a water flow rate of 28 L/minute, 34 L/minute, 40 L/minute. The highest concentration obtained was in the bed thickness variable, by conducting 27 experiments that met the SNI for utilization as stainless steel, there were 3 experiments, namely 55.08% and 55.36% and 55.66%, while for recovery that met these criteria, 69 ,95%, 68,73% and 67,88%. The calculation is obtained after analyzing with the Grain Counting Analysis or GCA method.
