Abstract

Organic rice that comes from organik farming is different from conventional rice. Organic rice is more healthy and safe for consumption because there is no chemical pollution that can form free radicals. The objectives of this study are: (1) To describe the characteristics of household consumers of organic rice in Palembang City. (2) Identifying what attributes are considered by household consumers in consuming organic rice in Palembang City. (3) Analyzing the relationship between household consumer characteristics and organic rice attributes in Palembang City. This research was conducted in January until March 2023 with 30 household consumers who consume organic rice. The method used in this research is survey method with accidental sampling technique. The research results obtained are: (1) The characteristics of organic rice household consumers are 70 percent female, aged 46-55 years as much as 40 percent, an undergraduate education level of 53 percent, a job as a private employee as much as 40 percent, and has an income between IDR 5,000,000-Rp7,000,000, has a family of 5-6 members as much as 60 percent, and consumes organic rice as much as 5-10 kg / month. (2) The attributes that consumers consider most in purchasing organic rice based on the Fishbein multi-attribute method are attributes of benefits, nutritional information, texture, price, taste, packaging, brand, and aroma. (3) The results of the analysis of the relationship between consumer characteristics and organic rice attributes are that there is a significant relationship between age and flavor and benefit attributes, education and nutritional information attributes, income and packaging and price attributes, number of family members with brand, packaging, and flavor attributes, organic rice needs with packaging and price attributes.
