Abstract

Peat has special characteristics that bind very high water up to 400% but has the property of drying not back which causes peat to burn easily when dry, Testing the percent moisture content of peat aims as one of the efforts to prevent peat fires, there are tests carried out (Nuridin, 2011) obtained the highest percent of water content loss of 125.682% in Lalombi which is the background of the research, this research was carried out at PT Tempirai Palm Resources using the oven method as a testing tool for temperature, the results of testing moisture content and bulk density at a temperature variation of 50°C obtained the highest water loss content of 47% and the highest bulk density reduction of 0.258 g / cm 3, temperature 100°C the highest amount of moisture content of 88.9% and the highest BD of 0.119g / cm3, 150°C percent of water loss of 91% and the highest decrease in bulk density of 0.081 g/cm 3 and 200°C decrease in highest BD by 0.113 g/cm3 and percent increase in water content loss highest by 97% it is concluded that the longer the heating time percent of water content lost will affect the increase and decrease in BD
