Abstract

This study aims to: (1) describe the condition of food security in Arisan Musi Timur Village, Muara Belida District, Muara Enim Regency (2) analyze the effect of food availability on the food security of farming households in Arisan Musi Timur Village, Muara Belida District, Muara Enim Regency (3) analyze the effect of food affordability on household food security of farmers in Arisan Musi Timur Village, Muara Belida District, Muara Enim Regency (4) analyze the effect of staple food price levels on farmer household food security in Arisan Musi Timur Village, Muara Belida District, Muara Enim Regency which are then able became a reference material in the assessment of food security in Arisan Musi Timur Village, Muara Belida District, Muara Enim Regency. The research location was determined through unrest caused by the question of whether Arisan Musi Timur Village, which has a large enough area of land and the dominant community who work as farmers, can achieve food-secure households. Food security includes several influencing factors, namely food availability, food affordability, and the level of staple food prices. Each of the factors is interrelated, such as the availability of sufficient food will not make the village food secure if the village does not have good access to food and optimal food absorption, an imbalance between the two can cause food insecurity. The research method in this research is descriptive and scoring. The research results show that the first objective is to describe food security which includes the factors of food availability, food affordability, and the level of staple food prices. The second objective is to analyze the acquisition of an average combined score of aspects of food availability to obtain a score of 49.45 and can be stated as it is already good. The third objective is to analyze the acquisition of an average combined score of aspects of food affordability to obtain a score of 72.65 and it can be stated that it is already good. The fourth objective is to analyze the acquisition of an average combined score of aspects of the staple food price level to obtain a score of 54.8 and can be stated as not good. Arisan Musi Timur Village still depends on land conditions which often experience flooding and are exacerbated by unpredictable weather changes. Staple food diversification is also an obstacle because farmers do not grow staple food other than rice. Farmer households are very dependent on the services of collectors and have not been able to create their own market so that they cannot control the price of staple food from their food production.
