Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of (1) analyzing the differences in production and income of Ciherang variety rice farming and IR 42 rice farming in Kota Daro II Village, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province (2) Describe the constraints in cultivating Ciherang rice varieties and IR varieties 42 in the Village. The research method used in this study is a survey method and interviews with respondents using a questionnaire as a tool to collect data with a total sample of 35 samples. The results of the study showed that (1) the production of Ciherang variety rice farming was in planting season 1 per hectare, namely 5,600 and in planting season 2, namely 4,600. The production of IR 42 rice in planting season 1 was 2,680 and in planting season 2 was 1,680. The average income of Ciherang rice farmers per hectare per year in planting season 1 is IDR 20.796.577 while in planting season 2 it is IDR. 16.991.934 higher than the average income of IR 42 rice farmers per hectare per year during the growing season of Rp. 9.591.227 while in the 2nd planting season that is Rp. 5.535.227 (2) Constraints in the cultivation of the Ciherang variety rice plants, namely fast fruiting in the nursery so that there are many pests such as birds, capital. Constraints in the cultivation of rice varieties IR 42, namely the stems easily collapse, pests namely brown leafhoppers, pests that attack mice are green ladybugs and stink bugs, long time to bear fruit, capital.
