Abstract

One of the factors that cause damage to road pavement is happening refined petroleum product spills from tank vehicles to road surface. Oil spills can also occur in at gas stations, petroleum refineries, and other industri es areas. Entry of refined petroleum products into the asphalt mixture can loss of adhesion between aggregate and asphalt causing reduced durability. These conditions encourage further decline to conduct research on the durability of pavement due to the influence of petroleum product spills. There are two treatments are the manufacture specimen of normal mixture, and the specimen spillage of pertol, diesel and oil. For the treatment of specimen exposed to oil spills do immersion with time variations 1, 3 and 5 minutes, removed and allowed to stand for 1 hour before being Marshall test Mixture of normal test results obtained KAO value of 5.90%, and stability value is 1690 kg. Ovcrall stability values decreased due to the effect of oil spills, the biggest drop in 5 minutes immersion time, are amounted to 73.97% on oil, petrol 69.32% and diesel 51.85%. Oil is a refined petroleum products that most reactive causing a decrease in the strength of specimen compared to petrol and diesel. The decrease is due because the oil has properti es as a solvent when it meets high temperature, beside that oil has a specific gravity greater than petrol and diesel, so is more inherent and do not evaporate when specimen allowed to stand for 1 hour.
