Abstract

One of the efforts on overcoming problems against drug users is the role of religion (Dzikir Recitation Therapy) that can reduce relapse, which is as much as 38.90%. The purpose of this study was to identify the recovery process of drug users through the therapy of Dzikir Reciation and perceived changes after following the Dzikir Recitation Therapy in the Ar-Rahman Drug Rehabilitation Center in Palembang. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach toward 9 informants, 4 drug users and 5 staff in the rehabilitation center. The selection of informants was conducted using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was done by in-depth interviews, observation and document review. The results showed that in the effort to increase the awareness of drug users by using Dzikir Recitation Therapy in the form of a spiritual splash that is reminiscent of the experience of the drug user client so that there is an attitude of remorse and awareness as well as experiencing changes in behavior, changes in habits and changes in nature. Based on these findings, the Dzikir Recitaion Therapy has an important role in the recovery process that is to awaken drug users back to the right path not to use drugs again. Researcher suggests that drug user clients should not repeat the actions that have been done and learn from past experiences to change for the better
