Abstract

The aims of the research were (1) To find out the timber industry business activities in the Pangkalan Benteng Village, Banyuasin Regency (2) To find out the public's perception of the wood industry activities in the Pangkalan Benteng Village, Banyuasin Regency (3) To measure the level of community economic welfare based on the Decent Living Component (KHL) in the presence of timber industry activities in Pangkalan Benteng Village, Banyuasin Regency. This research was conducted at PT. Zenith Djaja, Banyuasin Regency. Data collection was carried out in February 2023. The method used was a survey method with a sampling technique represented by (suboptimal) timber industry workers around the study site. The sample selection was carried out by purposive sampling (intentionally) with the criteria needed in this study were the surrounding community aged 20-40 years. Where the sample used in this study were 30 people. The results of this study indicate that the level of perception on infrastructure and environmental indicators, social relations, economic opportunities and employment are in the agreed criteria with a total score of 31.76 for wood industry employees and 32.74 for the community around Pangkalan Benteng Village, Banyuasin Regency. The average income of wood industry employees is not sufficient for decent living needs (KHL), so a side job or additional income is needed to meet decent living needs (KHL), for example by opening a small business (warung).
