Abstract

This research area is geographically located in Penandingan village, Lahat District, South Sumatera. This research was conducted to determine the level of tectonic activity. Therefore, this area is very interesting to study in identifying tectonic activity and more emphasis on morphometric analysis. This analysis includes measurements found in different morphologies, namely measuring the length and width of the river, the height of the peak of the hills, and the valley’s depth, for each measurement using the appropriate parameters, according to what analysis will be used. This results in a variety of landforms in the area. The data are DEMNAS, topographyc and geological maps, geological maps. The data is processed using a geographic information system (GIS) and the parameters used are flow density (Dd), Mountain Face Sinusity (Smf), Valley Basis to Valley Height Ratio (Vf), and he Asymmetry Factor (Af). The results of the analysis of the four parameters are then combined to obtain the value of the relative tectonic activity index (IAT). The results of the analysis show in general that the level of tectonic activity in the study area is dominated by low-level tectonic. Keywords :Morphotectonic, Smf, Lahat
