Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out and be able to describe how the village and urban village competition program is managed based on the theory of Stephen P. Robbins and Mary Coulter. This research uses a qualitative approach through the collection of interview data, documentation, and field observations. The results showed that the village and sub-district competition program management was good. Planning includes defining goals that are already known by implementers, establishing strategies through the establishment of terms of reference and evaluation teams for village and sub-district competitions, and developing plans through meetings. Organizing, which includes the division of tasks and placement of employees, has been carried out based on structural position levels but has not yet involved other agencies that should be involved in activities. Leadership includes giving directions so that executors carry out their duties and functions according to their duties and functions through oral and written communication, but program implementers have not been given special honorariums. Control, which includes monitoring, has been carried out before and when the program is implemented, and an assessment is carried out based on the assessment format stipulated in the regulations, making corrections in order to re-ensure the assessment that has been carried out so that mistakes do not occur. Therefore, it is better for agencies to make improvements in the organizational dimension, especially in the indicators of division of tasks and employee placement, so that other agencies are involved in the evaluation team for village and sub-district competitions. As well as making improvements to the dimensions of leadership to be precise in providing motivation so as to increase motivation for all members of the assessment team in managing and succeeding the village and sub-district competition program at the South Sumatra Province level.
