Abstract

This study aims to determine the tendency of students' learning styles at SMA Islam Az-Zahra Palembang. There are many types of learning styles, but the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles (VAK) are the most widely used. This research is a quantitative descriptive study and the instruments used were a learning style questionnaire developed by Chislett & Chapman, interviews, and odd semester Physics Final Assessment Score (PAS) data. Of the nine learning style variants obtained, it shows that the visual learning style is 17.2%, the auditory learning style is 24.1%, the kinesthetic learning style is 51.7%, the dominant two learning style is 3.4%, and the mixed VAK learning style is 3.4%. In the results of the PAS Physics measurement material, students who have a kinesthetic learning style get the most B grades (71–85). While students who have a multimodal learning style, get an even score. These results indicate that student learning styles that tend to be oriented toward active learning styles will support student success in the learning process. Differentiated learning needs to be developed by educators in order to facilitate the needs of diverse student learning styles.
