Abstract

Snakehead fish waste silage flour is an alternative that is expected to substitute the need for fish flour. This study aimed to determine the effect of substitution fish waste silage flour in artificial feed to the efficiency of feed utilization, protein efficiency ratio, growth and survival for kissing gourami (Helostoma temminckii). This research was conducted at the Fisheries Basic Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University in December 2022-January 2023. The research design used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The treatments were the different percentage of fish flour and snakehead fish waste silage flour in kissing gourami feed formulations, namely 100%: 0% (P1), 75%: 25% (P2), 50%: 50% (P3), 25%:75% (P4), 0%:100% (P5). The results showed that P3 was the best treatment with an absolute length growth of 1.11cm, an absolute weight growth of 1.15g, feed efficiency of 29.86%, protein efficiency ratio of 0.91, and survival of 98.6%. Water quality parameters during the study were temperature 25.9-28.44ºC, pH ranged from 6.1-7.2, dissolved oxygen 3.9-4.9 mg L-1 and ammonia ranged from 0.036-0.091 mg L-1 .
