Abstract
A t Steel building construction, efficiency in using material mus t get a special concern as building construction cost consideration. To reach the efficiency, we may not ignore the function of the Steel structure element. To get efficiency without reduce the strength of a structure element, we must doing Steel profile modification. One kinds of Steel profile modification is Castellated Beam. Castellated Beams are made from Standard hot-rolled I, H or U-sections. The web o f the beam is split lengthwise in a rack-shaped pattern. The halves s o obtained are shifted a half-pitch in relation to one another and then welded together at the tops of teeth. The result is a beam with a row of hexagonal holes in the body. The beam is much deeper than the original profile it is made from, while its weight is of course (almost) the same. The Research analyse and compare bending stress distribution of IWF Steel beam and Castellated Beam as element shell using SAP 2000 V.12. By doing the modification of IWF Steel beam t o Castellated Beam, we get that Castellated Beam can increasing the strength of beam for the actual bending sfress. The analytical result present as chart and stress contour image. The values of analytical result s are 15.96 % for 4.5m length, 16.62 % for 6m length, 17.17 % for 7.5m length and 9.88 % for 9m length. And about the deflection, the strength increasing at 9m length beam. So that, Castellated Beam will be effective and efficient if used in >9m length beam.
