Abstract

The research was conducted at PIT BME in the work area of PT. Ansaf Inti Resources with scope limited to seam c and seam d. The purpose of this research is to find out how the influence of the cleat attribute and its relation to coal permeability. The research method used includes literature study, field observations in the form of measuring cleat attributes (orientation, spacing, aperture, density, cleat intensity and filler mineral) obtained through scanline measurements and then proceed with permeability calculations using aperture and cleat spacing data then performing regression correlation through geostatistical methods and map making. The results of the analysis show that the general orientation of the face cleats is northeast-southwest with the result that the cleat attribute in the form of an aperture has an interval of 0.02 – 0.1 cm and for spacing it has a range of 2.9 – 5.7 cm. Based on the calculation of the permeability equation, the permeability range obtained is 2.27 Md – 42.95 mD for the match sticks model and 3.02 mD – 57.27 mD for the cubes model. It can be concluded that from this research location several coal seams have permeability which is good enough for coal methane gas. Furthermore, the results of the analysis of the relationship between the cleat attribute and the coal permeability value show that these attributes have a correlation with permeability. The relationship between aperture and permeability has a positive pattern, which means that the larger the cleat aperture, the greater the permeability value formed. A different thing happens in the relationship between cleat spacing and coal permeability, from the correlation results it is known if the pattern formed is negative or contradictory, meaning that the more cleat spacing is formed, the lower the permeability value of the coal and vice versa.
