Abstract

Hotel X Palembang city is one of the hotels work in services and various other necessities. Occupational accidents at this hotel is room attendant workers had slipped when cleaning the bathtub and caused a knock on the head. Potential hazards of occupational health and safety are found in room attendant activities, starting from the preparation step to the final completion step. The purpose of this research is to measurements of risk in room attandance work activity in the hotel X city of Palembang. Data analysis was performed using the AS / NZS 4360: 2004. This research used qualitative research design using direct obervation and in-depth interviews with 7 informants consisting of the head of the housekeeping department, head room attendant and 5 person room attendants. The riskiest work at the process step brush the bathroom floor, toilet and bathtub also sweep adn mop which is risk of repetitive hand movements, repetitive squat movements, and bending movements. This risk is categories in high because the frequency of the work is done every day for hours and there is no control from the hotel. Risk assessment obtained from 3 steps of work is 24 risks consisting of 8 high risks that must be closely monitored and controlled, 8 moderate risks that still require further supervision and control and 8 acceptable low risks but supervision and control are carried out if needed. The hotel is recommended to replace the hand brush with a brush that is more ergonomic and room attendant is recommended to stretch every few minutes.
