Abstract
The issue of child labour is an international problem that refers to the practice of work that deprives children of their rights, poses risks to their health, safety, and moral development. Somalia is a country with a very high rate of child labour, and the Somalia government acknowledges that they cannot address this issue alone without assistance and cooperation from other parties. As an international organization focused on labour issues, the International Labour Organization (ILO) is expected to have an impact on the efforts to eliminate child labour in Somalia. Therefore, the researcher conducted a study entitled “The Role of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Combating Child Labour in Somalia from 2014 to 2022.” The aim of this study was to determine the role played by the ILO in addressing child labour in Somalia. In this study, the theory used was the theory of international organization roles proposed by Clive Archer, as this theory Is relevant for understanding the role played by the ILO in dealing with the issue of child labour in Somalia. According to Archer, the role of international organization encompasses three main aspects: as an instrument, an arena, and an independent actor. After collecting data, the researcher found that the ILO played all three of these roles in efforts to combat child labour in Somalia, namely as an instrument, an arena, and an independent actor.
