Abstract
This study aimed to acquire the used of waves learning media at Senior High School in Ilir Barat 1 Palembang. Using cluster sampling, a total 7 teachers and 36 students from 4 public schools and 1 private school participated in this study. Qualitative descriptive research was conducted following the data collected from questionnaires, documentation studies, observations and interviews. The results showed that 1) The learning media used by teachers in waves subject matter are slinki, ropes, water, students’ worksheet and students’ practicum book, 2) The percentage of students’ perception towards the used of waves learning media is 59%, 3) Slinki are unavailable at some schools and teachers hasn’t use Waves KIT as a learning media because the lack of tools, some parts are in damaged and unavailable. Researcher suggests that schools should have Waves KIT and so that waves learning become more tangible and convenient through direct experience of waveforms.
