Abstract

The G20 is an important multilateral forum breakthrough in the 21st century in order to build a new world economic and political order with the construction of openness, attachment and world cooperation. This forum consists of 19 countries plus the Buropean Union with a total GDP that reaches around 85 per cent of the world's total economy and a market share that reaches two-thirds of the world market. The research in this thesis uses a constructivism perspective that emphasizes the way of seeing the world and its material aspects as a social structure formed by the existence of non-material factors, namely identity. This is very important because the behavior of a country is basically influenced by the existence of its identity. Using the concept of collective identity by Alexander Wendt, the research will use three main dimensions, namely Structural Context, Systematic Process, and Strategic Practice. The research shows that the Chinese identity is very strong and has been proven to encourage the behavior and foreign policy of China, which was initially closed, to be more open to any economic development, especially in the G20 forum. The research shows that the Chinese identity is very strong and has proven to encourage a lot of Chinese foreign policy behavior and policies that were initially closed to be more open to any economic developments, especially in the G20 forum. China, which is considered as a representation of developing countries, uses the three identities of Chineseness, namely Socialism, Responsible World Power and Revisionism and has proven to be the power of China's identity politics in the G20 forum arena under the leadership of President Xi Jinping in Period I (2013-2018) and Periog (2018-2022). The Chinese identity has proven to drive China's behavior at the G20 forum. This forum is very important for China to strengthen its identity more broadly to the world.
