Abstract

This research was aimed to find out the performance of peanut screw press machines on various treatments of soaking time and grinding frequency. This research was conducted in March 2019 until April 2019 on Jalan Lubuk Kawah No.85 RT.62, RW.13, Kebun Bunga Village, Sukarami District, Palembang, South Sumatra. This study uses the Factorial Randomized Group Design method (RAKF) where there were three treatment factors, namely the length of material immersion and the frequency of material grinding. The parameters of this study consist of water content, fuel requirements, engine effective capacity and loss in the grinding process.The results showed that the immersion time of 3 hours had a lower moisture content compared to the soaking time of 6 hours and 9 hours. Soaking too long is not good for material conditions because it could damage the peanut tissue so that the peanut shell could be peeled off and the beans split into two. The A1B1 treatment was 3 hours soaking time and 1 repetition of grinding has a moisture content of 4.13% with a fuel requirement of 0.32 liters / hour, with a capacity of 5.51 kg / hour and a loss of 34.00 g. The A2B1 treatment, which was 6 hours immersion time, has a moisture content of 5.72% with fuel requirements of 0.32 liters / hour, effective working capacity of 5.55 kg / hour, and loss of 27.00 g. And A3B1 has a moisture content of 4.28%, fuel needs of 0.63 liters / hour, engine effective capacity of 31.40 kg/hour and loss of 37.00 g.
