Abstract

Private cars as the main mode of transportation in Sukarami districts are used for daily activity to office, campus, or school where is having impact on increasing the density of traffic on several roads in the city of Palembang. These problems can not be solved simply by widening the road. The solution is not effective If people’s dependence on private car use is still very dominant. One of effort that can be do to solving these problems by applying Carpo.oling system to improve the efficiency of the transportation system, such as switching modes use Single Occupancy Vehicle (SOV) to the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV). The purpose of Carpooling System is making a route carpooling in Sukarami districts, business plan and know the characteristics of the trip, request travel needs, as well as before and after studies with the application of carpooling system simulation program Vissim PTV. Data collection methods used are secondary data obtained from the district office and primary data used is a home interview survey, traffic counting survey, and spot speed survey. The method of data analysis is descriptive and origin destination matrix. From the analysis, the public interest would like to switch to carpooling system as many as 217 samples and The public did not want to switch as many as 183 samples.
